The first Chop Chop opened its doors in January 2006 and was an instant success, attracting universal acclaim from the local and national press. By 2008, it had been voted Best Chinese Restaurant in Scotland. Our story begins in 1997, when Jian Wang arrived in Edinburgh from Changchun in North-Eastern China, a region famous for its delicious jiao zi (dumplings). Jian was an expert chef and dumpling maker, having worked in the family food business for many years. Chop Chop launched its unique Rewards membership to show appreciation to its regular customers, who promptly returned the compliment by voting Chop Chop onto Gordon Ramsay's F-Word T.V show.
We believe in maintaining the integrity of our food, so all of our restaurants share the same menu. If you have a favourite dish, you can enjoy it at any Chop Chop restaurant, always cooked to the same high standard. We offer unlimited banquets for four, five, six or more people, with dishes designed to make the most of our range of authentic and delicious food. Whether you are a Chop Chop regular or wish to try our unique cuisine for the first time, you can enjoy our delicious food in the comfort of your own home by using our delivery service, which covers the whole city of Edinburgh, or collecting from one of our restaurants. In setting this up, we have done everything possible to ensure that your Chop Chop home dining experience will benefit from the flavours, textures and temperature of the food that we are so proud of. We are very confident that we will deliver the full Chop Chop experience to your home. After all, from the day we first opened, our menu has always been north eastern Chinese home cooking done to a gourmet standard.
We make the noodles, dumplings and all the other dishes ourselves from fresh ingredients with no artificial colourings or preservatives. As this is your first visit here, we would like to explain our Chinese style of serving. In China, diners order collectively and share all dishes, which are brought to the table in random order as soon as they are ready. In this way, mixing the textures and flavours of the dishes adds to the enjoyment of the meal. So please don't allow your dumplings to go cold.
