Berts has had a makeover but its not all trout lips and permanently startled botox. In fact it's quite tasteful and the place was packed to the gunnels when I visited. They serve 6 well kept real ales as well as a decent range of lagers and ciders including Budvar. There's a good enough selection of wines although the food is so-so.I still think this is better than the pub next door or opposite though...

While it's not actualy an old pub Berts povides traditional pub favourites of plenty of beer to choose from and pub grub. There is usually a decent choice of specials and the scotch pies are excellent - and when served with chips and beans are a nice filling meal. The location is nice and central while just off the beaten track enough to keep it from being too busy.Barstaff are friendly and helpful while the refurbishment last year means it doesn't get quite as crowded during busy lunchtimes although I miss the old snug in the back. There is also a sister pub in stockbridge that is very similar and is called Berts too.
