I've been into photography since I left school, (dread to think where the time has gone) when I bought my first SLR camera, a Fujica ST605n. How things have changed over the years, from my make shift darkroom and the smell of chemicals that my parents used to complain about. Now it's a bit more refined and civilized with a digital darkroom, even if I still do shoot film for certain projects.

I've been photographing weddings for more than 20 years and have had the privilege to travel around Europe with my work as well as work with some great photographers. I cover mostly the Worcestershire & Warwickshire areas but I am willing to travel further afield. Of course, weddings are only a part of my work. Based in Birmingham, I also cover corporate shoots, fashion, hair & makeup, social events as well as my personal favourite, 35mm B&W street photography, which I might create a new page for that soon.

I've been told to put a ‘blog' onto the site. I'm not so much in the business of blowing my own trumpet, or in fact, anyone else's. But I might succumb to trends in social media.

Weddings

We only attend one wedding in a day and guarantee that we are committed to your wedding day, from bridal preparations through to the first dance, and of cause the many hours of post production of all images and albums.

Weddings shot on film

You maybe wondering, “why have my wedding shot on film". And that would be a fair question. I too probably was in the same mind set of thinking when digital cameras surpassed film in sharpness, which is to my reckoning, probably around the 5 or 6 Megapixel mark some 12 years ago. There is of course, all the trouble for me of getting the films processed at a quality professional lab, which you can't post the films to as you can't run the risk of getting them lost in the post. So into the car and drive 20 miles to the nearest pro lab, back in the car 3 or 4 days later to pick them up. So, as a photographer, why do I even bother to offer customers the choice of shooting film at their wedding. Well, I don't want to get into a debate of which is best- Digital vs Film? I'll leave that to the good folks on Flickr and other photography websites who spend all day arguing about this. (They really do need to get out more). All I can tell you, it looks different! Not better, Not worse, just different!

The thing I like about film is the realness of it. There is nothing forced about it. Tones are smoother and a supple softness to the images, ideal for wedding photography. Normally a straight forward scan or print from the negative is all you need without all the photoshopping. Unfortunately, many people think of film like compact cassettes or floppy discs, a relic from the past. However, film technology has come on leaps and bounds in recent years, as much as digital cameras have.
