The Stanton Guildhouse is a charitable trust, created in the 1960s by the entrepreneurial vision of Mary Osborn, who dedicated her life to the promotion of learning, creativity and personal development.
The house was built in the Arts and Crafts tradition and in the design of a country manor, from reclaimed Cotswold stone, former flagstones from the streets of London and beams from oaks on the Blenheim Palace Estate. The interior of the house features many examples of fine craftsmanship.
The house is associated with many illustrious supporters including Mahatma Gandhi, John Betjeman, Flora Robson, J. B. Priestly and Enid Blyton. The Guildhouse has been a place of inspiration for these people and for the many others who have visited and stayed in the house. It is still inspiring new visitors and guests from all walks of life today.
Lord Mawson, founder and president of Bromley-by-Bow Centre and current Director of Andrew Mawson Partnerships, took responsibility for the future development of the Stanton Guildhouse in 1996.
Stanton Guildhouse holds a series of diverse events throughout the year – these range from literary readings, musical evenings and art exhibitions and courses to motivational speaking sessions and quiet days. All events are popular and well-attended so prior booking is a must.
Beginners and the more experienced alike come to relax and work side by side. In our environment, it is possible to learn, exchange ideas, explore styles modern and abstract and to be inspired by the ambience, the beauty of the environment and the high quality teaching.
Above the picturesque village of Stanton, just South of Broadway, the Cotswold Way passes within a few feet of Stanton Guildhouse. The Grade II Listed Manor House sits in the hill above the Mount Inn, with stunning views stretching over the Vale of Evesham to the Brecon Beacons.
The Guildhouse is ideal for special occasions, overnight conferences, catered awaydays, midweek residential visits, self-catered weekend breaks and walking holidays.
15 house guests can be accommodated.
The Guildhouse has 7 bedrooms with 15 single beds. Normally only one party at a time would occupy the house during the week, and there is a minimum charge based on 7 occupants (one per bedroom).
When you stay with us, your reservation is treated as an individual booking. We will ensure that your visit to us is tailor made to suit your needs. Please contact our manager – Susan Mawson (01386 584 357) – to discuss your requirements further.
