Shelley College is a special place - a forward-looking and caring school which provides the time, space and opportunity for students to flourish and develop their talents. We take our responsibility for educating young people very seriously. We set out to help them develop confidence and self-esteem and we are proud of all that our students and staff achieve.
We aim for excellence in all that we do. We maintain high educational standards, high standards of discipline and we do all that we can to ensure our school is a safe and happy place in which to learn. We believe in hard work, in rewarding students' successes and in celebrating all their achievements. As a result we are very popular with both students and parents.

Shelley College is a special place to study, work or even just visit. Firstly, our students our very impressive young people, whose behaviour is outstanding and their achievements are genuinely something to be proud about. We devote considerable effort to recognising their talents and efforts through a very well established Positive Behaviour system. Our aim is for all members of our community to “Enjoy, Achieve and Inspire Others" and I believe our students do all of these things on a daily basis. We encourage all students to act responsibly and help them to become mature, independent young people. Given such positive attitudes from our students, it is no surprise that we enjoy considerable success in academic and extra-curricular pursuits. We very much believe in the potential of our students, who thrive in our caring environment. We are ambitious for our students and challenge them to work hard. We cover the most important phases of a young person's education and are determined they will make the most of every opportunity to succeed. Our pastoral care is exceptionally good and is founded on our belief that all students who come to Shelley can achieve great success, whatever their background. Dedicated, full-time pastoral staff are available throughout the day to assist our students and parents whenever extra help is needed. The dedication of all our teaching staff is a very strong feature of the school and I am constantly impressed with their efforts to provide an outstanding experience for Shelley students. Their passion for their subjects and eagerness to provide a very rich extra-curricular programme, including trips, is second to none. People enjoy coming to Shelley to work and we very much value a sense of partnership.

Our Sixth Form is very successful. There is a fantastic range of courses available and we have a wonderful track record in helping students achieve brilliant results. We do not make it easy and we expect our sixth form students to take a demanding range of courses, including extra options to help prepare for interviews at university and work. We have embraced new opportunities, such as the Progression Module and AQA Baccalaureate. Such courses have paid huge dividends in university applications and we will continue to ensure our students have the edge in a competitive world. Pastoral care is also excellent in the Sixth Form and students enjoy access to high quality facilities specifically for them.
