I came here recently with a group of people from work and was pleasantly surprised.Firstly, the restaurant location is not ideal – not quite central, but just off the ring road on Fitzwilliam Street. The advertising is pretty low key and although I've worked in Huddersfield for over 5 years, I was not aware of its existence.Upon entering, I found that the restaurant was quite small, dimly lit but well furnished – giving it a cosy and warm ambience. We opted for food from the “Primetime menu”, which offered starter, main course, dessert and ½ litre of house wine for an extremely good value £18.95.The staff were very helpful and attentive and took our orders promptly. The timings on bringing the food out were excellent – allowing us just enough time between courses to relax and digest. For starter, I opted for the carrot and coriander soup which was accompanied by warm bread roll. I found the soup flavoursome and had a good consistency. This was followed by the rump steak – which was excellently cooked to my liking (medium) and accompanied by mixed vegetables. Having realised that the vegetables were not that substantial – I ordered a portion of chips, which arrived promptly and were hand-cut and fried making them an excellent accompaniment to the steak. For dessert, the crème brulee was well cooked, tasty and had a perfect consistency. The whole meal was excellent value – and I would recommend the extra portion for those with large appetites. Its an excellent place to bring family or to impress a date! I will be returning soon…
