A true blue gem this one. The building is in two parts dating from the 16th and 18th centuries with a red brick floor, original wood beams and a 17th century inglenook fireplace in the old part which is the bar area. They do not have a bar as such but a serving hatch in the bar area. It's no ordinary run-of-the-mill pub this - it is in fact how most pubs were originally.Furniture is also quite old with Victorian 'settles' and scrubbed wooden tables.Beer is in barrels on the floor behind the serving hatch and is gravity fed. Badgers best bitter was in superb condition. Food, extensive and up-market but slightly above pub-grub prices. Garden, big with good furniture and dogs are welcome. If you can find it, you'll enjoy a visit.Tourists, very popular with the walkers and cyclists. NB music and mobile phones are frowned upon !
