This has to rate as one of the best tearooms I've ever visited. I had a reasonably priced veggie breakfast served by friendly, attentive staff. The helpings were very generous, in fact so generous that I was unable to finish it and that is totally out of character for me! Standing next to the counter there is a tall round glass revolving cake display with the most mouth watering selection of cakes. Also included are gluten free cakes, a choice you hardly ever see in most tearooms. Very impressed with that as people with wheat allergies are seldom well catered for out and about. You can see from the specials on the blackboard that there is decent choice of vegetarian meals as well. The tearoom itself is immaculate and cosy. There are numerous original paintings on the wall by local artists which are for sale in addition to greetings cards and postcards. I loved the collection of novelty teapots lining the windowsillIf you feel your energy levels have increased somewhat after your meal you can take a rowing boat out on the lake and spend time watching the antics of the wild ducks. All in all a place definitely not to be missed next time you visit the beautiful Sussex town of Arundel.

Beautiful lake but we could not help but feel "ripped off" by the pricing in the tea room - £1.70 for a small warm Nesquik style milkshake and nearly £5 for a tuna baguette was rather steep, as was £2 for one scoop of ice cream..........bring your own food!! I dont mind paying for quality but this was standard fare at premium prices. Maybe that's why they can afford to be totally overstaffed in the tea room.

Beautiful Sussex Tea Room

I found Swanbourne Lodge Tea Rooms to be a beautiful, charming place ideally situated near the famous castle town of arundel and immediately next to the popular boating lake with its vast array of birds and wildlife. The staff themselves are pleasant and helpful. The food is enjoyable and well priced and the ice cream on a hot summer's day is a welcome treat.I would highly recommend Swanbourne Lodge Tea Rooms for somewhere to go for a relaxing meal/afternoon tea in a beautiful Sussex setting. The courteous staff and delicious food make the experience well worth a visit.
