I'm always torn when it comes to Fitzies - I spend A LOT of time in there, yet I'm always disappointed with it. It's like that sibling who you love but who gets right on your nerves.The food is exceptional (cheap and very cheerful bar food - couldn't recommend the "curry rice and chips" highly enough!) but: -1) there is something wrong with either their vodka, their coke, their ice or their glasses, cause whenever I order a vodka+diet coke it stinks. It's drinkable, but it just stinks. It's hard to describe - it doesn't happen in any other pub in town!2) While we're on the stink theme - the soap in the ladies toilet.....I honestly believe my hands woudl smell nicer if I washed them in the toilets themselves than use that stuff. Chaplins have the same stuff - it's minging! Fitzies used to have nice soap - obviously a cost cutting exercise.3) Also on a toilet theme - please please fix the sodding hand dryers. I could blow on my hands quicker.4) Music - why dont the speakers work up the top anymore?! It's like sitting in bloody Weatherspoons.5) The Staff....now some of them (the old school ones) are spot on. But a load of newbies came in about a year ago and their faces would crack if they smiled.All that said though, it's the kind of pub you'd take your family members into - decent prices, friendly, never any bother, and lovely food. The manager seems liek a nice bloke too, although he's not there as a presence enough - but that's landlords for you in general these days.

Fab Pub Food
Fitzgerald's in Sunderland is a fantastic little pub that does amazingly good, home-coooked food. During my Uni years, whole class-fulls of us could be found here when we were meant to be in lectures - oops! The staff in Fitzies are really friendly and worringly, predicted my food order correctly nine times out of ten! The chicken kiev, chicken pie and chicken curry served in Fitzies are all gorgeous and you get huge portions. The prices are also very reasonable and there's a wide range of other items on the menu and specials board. The price of the drinks are also reasnoable and hours of fun are guaranteed on the itbox in the chart room. All in all, Fitzies is a fantastic pub - not just for students, but for young and old alike.
