About

The Institute for Automotive & Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP) well established at the University of Sunderland, which is responsible for delivering the Nepa Projects-Digital factory & Engineering Fellows.
The North East Productivity Alliance (NEPA) was established in 2001, and is chaired by John Cushnaghan CBE until recently Managing Director of Nissan Motor Manufacturing (UK) Ltd. Other members of the Advisory Group include a number of leading manufacturers from the Region
The £3.5m Nepa Digital factory project, is a Nepa/One North East funded project which aims help regional companies to gain competitive advantage by using the latest digital engineering software applications, along with support from experienced industry specialists.
It has a target to deliver 4,600 training opportunities by March 2008 and has already exceeded this number, with regional demand outstripping demand.
The range of applications covered includes product design, engineering design, data viewing applications & Collaborative Development tools, engineering analysis, CNC Programming, Process control, & re-engineering, ergonomics, digital mock-up, robotics, inspection, factory simulation & data management
Nepa Digital factory project currently applies to North East businesses, from trans-national corporations and SME to individual contractors involved in design, manufacturing, production, plant or procurement.
