The Porthole has recently changed hands. The good news is that the new team have changed very little apart from the introduction of an assortment of bar-snacks. The interior of the Porthole is caught in a 1960's and 70's time warp, and that's no bad thing; this pub actually FEELS like a proper local. As well has having all the interior quirky charm that you'd expect it also has a wonderfully laid back atmosphere and a good mix of very friendly locals and 'characters'. The Porthall has two distinct areas; the room at the front, where you can enjoy a very varied live musical mix, from Frank Sinatra impersonators to live jazz. And then there's the room at the back, which is my personal favourite. Their beer is always in tip-top condition, and for me, the best pint is the Directors bitter by Courage. This pub is well worth a visit!
