The Waggon is a pub that i've been to a couple of times. It's not really somewhere that i normally pass on my way to anywhere but i have relatives who live near it and i've been with them a few times. In general i'd say that it's a good traditional pub but the few times that i've been there, i found service to be a little slow when it came to meals. The food was nice enough and went down well but to me, service is part of the whole experience and though the staff seem very friendly, the speed on these occasions wasn't great. Other people tell me that that's never happened to them so maybe i was just unlucky. Judge for yourself.

The Waggon Inn is a good pub, in my opinion, for going to on a Sunday. It is located in Eighton Banks, somewhere which seems to be one of the last remaining semi-rural areas in that part of Gateshead. The pub is a traditional one and it looks the part. It is a welcome sight from the outside and blends well with its surroundings. The interior is equally as appealing. It looks very old inside and gives a good atmosphere. There's some good real ales on tap and an impressive menu available. As i said, if you want someone out of the way to go to for a pub lunch on a Sunday then i would recommend the Waggon Inn. It has the feel of that kind of pub and caters well for families.
