I visited this place after it was recommended by a friend. upon entry I was 'pulled' by the music, the girl at reception greeted me warmly,(though it was busy) I decided to eat in and placed an order for oxtail and rice/pease. My meal came quickly and I enjoyed every mouthful, I also had dessert which was beautiful. This place has a great 'vibe' about it, just what we need here in Croydon, I look forward to coming back and have already told my work mates and friends. Keep up the good work CaribSoul, I applaud you!!!!

Oh dear what a disappointment....

As a lover of food especially Carribbean I was eagerly awaiting my visit to Caribsoul on Saturday 23rd. However I was utterly disappointed before I even received my order and this was because the menu was only a quarter of what was advertised on their website. Upon enquiring about the menu and soul food element we were informed they only do soul food on a Sunday!! Yet this is the main ethos of the restaurant, Caribbean and American Soul Food fusion, this is NOT the case. Instead of leaving we decided to give it a go, so we tried to order Escovitch Fish but was told they had sold out Friday afternoon!! You would think with it being a Bank Holiday weekend they would make sure they had enough of everything especially as they were only offering a quarter of their full menu. We ended up ordering lamb pattie (no saltfish pattie left!), curry goat and ackee and saltfish which both came with rice and peas and a tiny side salad. Saying we were disappointed is an understatement, the food was overheated microwave fodder and you would do better to buy a frozen meal at the supermarket. They were overheating the food in the microwave and the rice was virtually crispy. The food was bland and the patti was brick like which God knows what inside. We paid £10.95 for our mains not including the additional pounds for coleslaw and plantain which were not included in the price. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone but instead would tell you to avoid it at all costs and save your money. What a waste.
