Had my worst dining experience ever at the Quays in Mytchett on Friday. How the manager has been appointed, and how he retains his job is a complete mystery, and quite honestly a disgrace in these days of high unemployment. Unfortunately his obnoxious and completely unprofessional attitude to customers, also appears to be rubbing off on a number of the petulant teenagers employed as waiting staff!! Went with a group of 4 girls for drinks and dinner to celebrate a birthday. Having given our table number when ordering food, we were of the impression that it would be perfectly acceptable to leave our drinks on the table, which was beside the window, while nipping outside between courses. However, on returning to our table we discovered all of our drinks, had been removed, and replaced with a reserved sign. We called the waitress over, and pointed out that our bottle of wine and vodka and coke were gone! She was so rude and surly that we asked to see the manager. He clearly objected to dealing with us, and said that the waitress was insistent the bottle of wine, and vodka and coke were empty. when they finally did replace 3 glasses of wine, the other member of our party reminded the waitress that her drink had also been taken, to which the waitress replied " ok, I'm doing it, I didn't have enough hands, yeah!" When the lead member of the party asked the manager for head office contact details to make a complaint, he told her to sit down, refused to give his name, and told her that " four girls, like us, should know better and leave a jacket on the table while we went outside if we were returning!" All this despite the fact that there was an outstanding food order, and we had given our table number when placing the order!!! To add insult to injury, the manager, and offending waitress stood by us on the steps for the duration of our main course pointing at us and very openly talking about us! We are contacting head office today with details of our experience, but whatever the out come would never return, and will be advising as many people as possible to do the same! An absolute disgrace to the service industry!!!!!

opposite the farnborough airshow airfield this intimate restuarant is unique in its cheapness and quailty. For £6.50 in the evening 6-11pm you can eat as much as you like from 16 dishes including rice parathas etc. The staff are incredibly friendly with young waiters from the India sub contient and food is replenished up to 11pm. Curries vary from fragrant and herbs to strong vindaloo and madras. You can asak which is mild. A mistake will give you burst of fire ! Drinks are normal bar prices and the buffet is all around one side of the place in copper coloured heated pans. Next to other restuarnts like the established Gurka palace in Farnborough Road this offers superb value and maximum filling of your hunger space.

with a view over a massive waterway to thehills beyond this stunning relaxing location is quite european in appearance. The superb roast carvery with its farm tractor guaranteed meats is lovely and the many vegetables wrapped in delicious sauces a treat. If yoiu are over 50 you quailify for a Mon- Fri £6.50 down from £7.25 set meal a carvery and a desert. This must be one of the best value meals ever for quailty setting and price. Unbeatable there are also pies stews and items as an alternative to turley beef lamb etc incl. veggie options

Nice family venue

This is a nice family pub just outside Mytchett near Farnborough, it's situated by a lake and is a really peaceful spot. The food is pretty good, portions are good and they run a carvery which is excellent and has a good choice of meat and veg. All dishes are pretty good, nothing too exotic but what they serve is done well. The pub itself is nice and airy inside, quite modern but still comfortable and relaxing. There are lots of tables outside too from which you can enjoy the lake. There is also a bar area for those not eating, the staff seem very friendly and helpful too.In the garden is a good sized play are which will entertain most ages of children so this is great to let them work up an appetite! There are plenty of high chairs too and good facilities for babies. The only downside to this place is that occasionally the service can be slow if it's very busy and it does get busy at lunch times in the week, weekends are not quite so bad.

This is one of my favourite places to go for a carvery. Most seats have views onto the lake whereby there is usually some water sports going on.There is normally a choice of 3 or 4 meats and a good choice of veg too (and perfectly cooked). Turkey comes with a chipolata which is a nice touch! There is a choice in gravy which is very useful for vegetarians. The Quays is in my opinion quite modern and very clean. Toilets are always superb and drinks service is quick. There is plenty of space for parking, although the first time we went we did have a little bit of trouble finding it.I've been the The Quays many times, I love it and would definately recommend it.
