When Buffet Island first opened here around 18 months ago we thought it was fantastic and even chose it for a family birthday. Its still very popular but after visiting again less than 24 hours ago I have to say I don't think it has lived up to its promise.Don't get me wrong, the food, and the choice of food, is still pretty good (thankfully now with more choice for vegetarians)but the price has gone up by almost 30% since first opening and I don't think the surroundings or the food reflect that. There is a cafeteria feel to the restaurant where I find it difficult to relax (uncomfortable seating, formica tables and staff who are NOT charm school graduates!)And that's a bit poor when the price is £11.95 in the evenings. (I think its £9.95 at luchtime.)One of the things that keeps families returning to the restaurant is the huge chocolate fountain which, as you can imagine, is very popular with children. But beware - the fountain is not on during weekday lunch times. On the plus side, in addition to the pre-cooked food, there is also Sushi and a grill where you can have fresh meats and sea food cooked for you. You can also choose to have a stir fry of your own selection made fresh.NB: The restauarant struggles to keep up with demandat peak times when they can be VERY busy.Free parking, but not enough of it.

This is a nice place to go when there is a group of you or you want to take your kids out with you. There is a good choice of food that will appeal to most people. We have been with friends who are veggie and they found plenty to eat. There is a good mixture of chinese starters, main courses as well as a sushi section, a freshly cooked noodle bar. For sweet there is a chocolate fountain, made to order pancakes, and all manner of nice desserts. It is reasonable value for money, but not everything is available at lunchtime (when the price is lower). The only problem is that the car park gets very busy.

Buffet Island is good and it has a very wide choice including many Chinese dishes, jelly, fresh fruit and even a well stocked chocolate fountain with fruit, marshmallows and more. The only thing is was that the main meals were not churned out or replaced quickly enough and there was little choice for vegetarians. The staff were very friendly but I think for lunchtime, £10 per head is a little pricy when the quality is not excellent. There was also not enough parking on site and I had to park across the road outside the subway. I would go again, but only if lots of other people wanted to go, I wouldn't choose it.
