About
Matthew e hadfield founded an architectural practice in the city of sheffield in 1834. Originally renowned for the excellence of its ecclesiastical architecture, the reputation of the practice grew rapidly with the advent of the steam age. In the latter half of the 19th century, with the continued development of commercial and industrial projects, m e hadfield was responsible for a number of notable buildings throughout the uk. The dawn of the 20th century saw the continued growth of the practice. Links with existing clients were strengthened and new development opportunities exploited. By the early 1960's the practice, now known as hadfield cawkwell davidson and partners, began to diversify into planning and civil and structural engineering projects, laying the early foundations for the multi-disciplinary practice of today.
