Good Old Fashioned Grub
The Minerva has been there for years, just outside the Market. I went there as a kid with my Grandparents and, whilst not a regular, I still pop in from time to time.It's an old fashioned cafe serving good british food with a good british brew. It looks a little tired, as do most of the staff, but it's clean, the food is tasty and it's very good value. I also suspect that it has a dedicated clientel which would account for it's prolonged success. I was always told to 'eat where the locals eat' and in this case it's well-founded advice.It's perfectly placed if you prefer to sit down to grab a bite after wandering round the market. It can get crowded and noisy. The staff always seem pushed for time and often seem totally uninterested in the customers; you rarely get a smile from most of them and they can seem a little intimidating but I suspect they're under pressure as there does not seem to be many of them.I'd call in any day.

Excellent value
When you want some decent home-cooked food when you are out which hits the spot and is excellent value then you cannot fault the Minerva (just by the Market in Doncaster). Friendly staff, traditional menu with pies; roast dinners; sandwiches and a proper cup of tea. What more can I say? It may not be the fanciest place in town, but it lets the cooking do the talking, and the price you pay is excellent. Take the weight off your feet next time you are in town on a busy shopping trip and try the Minerva.Just the job. Thank you. We will be back.

Fantastic food, and prices not such a good service
I eat at the Minerva Restaurant quite often and have done for the past few years and i always love their food. I also love their coffee, and if i don't have the time to eat/drink in i simply order it to go. The restaurant is always clean and tidy, but the one thing that really lets the place down is the staff that work there.There are 1 or 2 members of staff that are really friendly, but the rest are moody, miserable and look as if they don't really want to be there. If you ask for food that they can't be bothered to cook/prepare for you they go into a strop and talk under their breath about you and give you funny looks.If this one bad point is something you can ignore, i really do recommend you drop in and try their food sometime as it really is the best in town.
