This recently refurbished and redesigned Hotel and Restaurant, with all new furnishings and features you would expect from a quality hotel.
The restaurant has over the years attained a good reputation with our customers. We have been voted as the Best Hotel Restaurant of the Year 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 by our customers.
The lounge and bar are designed with your comfort in mind with a wide choice of beer, spirits, liqueurs, whiskies and wines available.
Accommodation and Restaurant
Deluxe en-suite shower rooms some with wet rooms. Super deluxe en-suites with Jacuzzi, some with four poster beds and balconies.

Outstanding Hotel
Stayed here last week after finding the hotel on scoot. I must say I was impressed by the hotel's standard. Stayed with my wife for 2 nights over the weekend and ate in the restaurant. Couldn't fault anything.

Dismal service!
Dovedale Hotel proudly boasts on it's website 'Voted As The Best Hotel And Restaurant in 2007 & 2008' but sadly this was far from our experience after a recent visit for lunch!We had booked a table in advance thinking it would be busy, but arrived to find the restaurant empty. We duly sat in the bar area and ordered some drinks whilst waiting to be shown to our table. The waitress (the only member of staff on duty so it seemed!) came to take our food orders. Then we sat waiting again. Eventually we were shown to our table and had only just been served with bread to enjoy with the complimentary dipping oil and olives when our main courses came. One of my friends had ordered steak, and at no time was she asked how she would have liked it cooked, although others ordering duck were asked?! The steak was a little rare to her liking but my friend chose to eat it rather than send it back. The main course was fairly well enjoyed by all. My only complaint was that the green beans appeared past best and shrivelled, as though they had been microwaved warm rather than cooked freshly. Also, most of the white crockery used throughout the meal was very smeary and finger-printed, not clean and shiny.We sat for quite a while with our dirty plates before they were cleared away and we were asked if we would like dessert. We asked for some sparkling water and were told 'I can do you some carbonated out of the bar mixer tap but I've no idea what it tastes like?!' Our desserts came and mine (chocolate brownie in a Drambuie sauce) had to be sent back because the brownie was charred and black in the middle (it had obviously been microwaved to the point of cremation!). The waitress went off into the kitchen with the dish, saying loudly to the chef 'the lady reckons this is burnt' while the kitchen door was still wide open. This was the last I heard on this matter - there was no apology or response from the waitress when she returned. Again we sat with our empty dishes, trying to talk over the loud music that had now started blaring out of the kitchen, and eventually decided we would retire back into the bar area for coffees. We were never asked if we would like coffee or any more drinks throughout our meal.I found it a little amusing that as soon as we had left the table the waitress pounced on it, clearing and re-setting it all. We eventually called her over and asked if we could order some coffee, her response was to tell us that 'usually if people want drinks they go and stand by the bar and then I'll come over!'. I wondered if this really was a restaurant or had we mistakenly walked into a pub?!All became clear however, as, no sooner had we finished our coffees and paid the bill, did the waitress dive out of the door with her coat on, shouting 'see you at 6' at the receptionist. She had just been waiting for us to go so that she could leave herself. We felt we had obviously been a total inconvenience to her, and that we had been treated in an ignorant and unprofessional manner throughout. Because of this very poor treatment we had decided not to leave a tip.Dovedale is a very nice looking restaurant, tastefully decorated and gives a very good first impression.However the service could only be described as dismal and having now looked the hotel up on 'trip advisor' and seem similar reviews of the poor restaurant service received by guests here, I am not surprised that we were the only diners there that day. I have now heard similar stories from other friends and family after telling them about my experience. I will not be returning.
