"Great High End Road Bikes, Shame I Couldn't Buy One!"

Being fairly new to the area I was looking for local road bike shop and Beeline looked like it fitted the bill, the owner describing the shop as "Oxford's leading cycle shop with friendly and knowledgeable staff". Great! just what I was looking for to spend a few thousand pounds on a new top of the line racing bike. So I went into the Road Bike specific shop ready to discuss the options, the shop was pretty much empty except one customer looking at accessories and two guys sat down the far end of the shop 'having a crack'. Are they staff members? Hmmm not sure, but they are obviously more interested in chatting than serving a customer if they are. But hey, I don't expect them to rush over as soon as I enter the shop so that's fine. So I look around the shop picking out the bikes I'd short listed during my research, now it's time to talk about them and make one a reality. Or so I'd hoped. I hang around some more..I've now been in there at least 20 minutes, I keep looking down the shop at the possible shop staff, but am unable to get their attention despite hanging around the shop counter and hanging around the bikes I'm interested in waiting for some form of service, but no, I think I must be invisible as my existence still remains completely unacknowledged. It must be a really good conversation those guys are having and is obviously much more important than selling me a bike so in the end I decide I've had enough of wasting my time and leave the shop bikeless. I won't be going back, and my bike buying business will be going to one of a few bike shops which are not as local but have been recommended as having great customer service. So, going back to the owners original description, Friendly? Abolutely not! I've never been so ignored in a shop ever! I actually wonder if I'd taken a bike off it's stand and walked out with it, would anyone have noticed? I really do wonder, although of course I wouldn't really dream of doing such a thing. Knowledgeable? Possibly, but I never got to find out and doubt I ever will now. Knowledge is great, but if you keep it all to yourself or only imapart it to your clique then what good is that? Good points? The range of bikes and accessories in the shop is fantastic, and the bike park within the shop is a really nice touch to stop you having to leave your bike outside and risk having it stolen. Overall Beeline had the potential to be a great shop, but in the end I wasn't important enough to warrant being one of their customers which really is a shame

Four wasted trips later...

Beeline are the only stockist for Specialized in Oxford and I love Specialized bikes. Fifteen years of great performance from three different models. But they will often ignore you for other customers, they suggest high-spec mountain bikes to people who don't need them and their servicing is chaotic at the expense of the customer's own time. I was inspired to write this review having taken my bike down for an MOT three week's ago. The Beeline guy checked the bike out and we went over everything that needed to be done. It needed a new shifter that had to be ordered, which I was expecting. A couple of weeks later I called to check the shifter had arrived; they were not sure cos the guy who ordered it wasn't around. I wait... then they confirm it's there and I can bring the bike in. I do so and run through the list of jobs the first guy gave me to make sure nothing is missed. They say come back 5pm the next day - great! I do and they bring the bike out and start to ring up the bill until I spot that nothing has been done to it. They check and the date on their system is the wrong month. Somehow that means they can't see if a bike has been fixed or not - it took me two seconds, no system required. They promise to fix it for the next day. I come back the next day and wait. And wait. Finally a guy comes through to tell me that they couldn't fit new tyres because the wheels need replacing - the pressure of the tyres would break the current rims/wheels so it would have been dangerous to undertake the service that I had requested. This information is imparted in patronising tones in a busy shop as if I had foolishly asked them to undertake innappropriate work, putting myself at danger. I was seriously unimpressed that my bike was still not in good working order after four trips to the shop (six hours of my time waster) and the guy from the day before does apologise grumpily and says it's not his fault (he wasn't the guy that I originally saw). So now I'm going to have to take my bike by train to Swindon for a decent service, but it will still, probably, take less of my time than going to Beeline.....

Pity the Manager is rude!

After spending 1.5 hours waiting ( which i am fine with, been here before and countless bikes from them) i was ignored 3 times by the same person, i know he is the manager as i have been there before and he has told me so. Being ignored is one thing, but being skipped over because some young lady walks through the door is the final straw. I did how ever find the road shop, what a difference!

The Best of a Great Bunch

There does not seem to be a bad Bicycle shop in Oxford, they all seem to be very good. However after visiting Beeline Bicycles they have gone to the top of the list. I have not purchased a bike from them as yet, but they are building me two without obligation. They did not try and sell me any bikes or sway me in any direction. The thing they did do, very well was give me lots of helpful information, facts, and contrary to some of the reviews, time!

I recently bought a bike from Beeline. I received excellent service from them. Yesterday I took my bike back for its first month service - again excellent service, extremely helpful, time to talk any problems or queries through with you. Cant praise them high enough. My friend is also considering buying a bike and if she gets it from anywhere, it will be Beeline - they are excellent. Thank you guys :o)

I found that Bee Line had only one of the exact model and size in stock that I was looking for. As I live over 1.5 hours away I phoned ahead to ask them to reserve it. They stated they were unsure whether the bike was complete and on display or boxed up upstairs so I got them to check. They phoned back to say that they had the bike in my size on display. Upon arriving they tried to fob me off with varioius other models of bike before, after half an hour, admitting that they had made a mistake and that they only had the bike in a medium, not a large, and that the workshop was far too busy to make the large bike up that day. 3 hours wasted journey.

Close, but no cigar...

Although Beeline is perhaps the best of the bunch, certainly along Cowley road, it still leaves a lot to be desired. The staff are genuinely helpful and for the most part knowledgeable, however, their management and customer service needs a lot to be desired. On numerous occasions the staff are overrun trying to get too many things done at the expense of the customers waiting in the shop - perhaps they need more staff at busy times like weekends, or perhaps they just need to be better organised and managed? It's now often the case that I'll go elsewhere or online to buy components and spares as it simply takes too long to be served. I know that I'm not alone with this stance. I've also had mixed results with the servicing department where I've taken a bike for service and specifically asked for my brakes to be left as they were, however, on return the brakes had been "adjusted" and now are no longer as plush as they were. This is probably a lack of communication between the front and back of the shop, however, as a customer what I see is a failure to carry out work properly. I won't go into the latest servicing fiasco that's caused me no end of trouble. In a nutshell, it *is* a good shop, with good staff and a lot of great kit, but they're missing a big trick by not having the customer service up to scratch. It'd be the icing on the cake that would certainly entice this, and many other customers, back to the shop on a regular basis.

I bought a bike from Bee Line Cycles and found that they were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and attentive to my needs. Their after care service is second to none as well. There are several bike shops along Cowly Rd, Bee Line managed to impress me...
