The wife and I spontaneously dropped into this delightful village pub run by a wonderful couple. Our first impression were of a neat and well cleaned bar and restaurant area and on closed inspection we were not far wrong. The bar manager was very friendly and welcoming and immediately had our drinks order in a very professional manor – My wife commented that the Tia-maria and Orange was made perfect – better than anywhere else. We were then shown to our table and a well presented menu was summoned for our selection. Although not a massive selection and this stage we were reassured the selection would improve and the Chef even tested one of his new dishes – Chicken and Mushroom salad – on us, and I have to say it was magnificent, truly great, I myself had the fish and home cut double cooked chips. The fish was like no other and the chip, although not many, were well presented and the meal overall was enough the deal with my hunger. And then the bad manager, whose name we learnt to be Adam, furnished us with the sweets menu which nearly took my breath away. My wife opted for the Hot Chocolate Fondant which was worth the wait to be freshly cooked. She described it as a rather light desert with all the taste and full flavour to be expected. The end result was an exquisite evening in the pleasant surroundings of a village pub/restaurant. We will be going back for more.
