New landlord is great (since May-ish 2010) - usually behind the bar himself and great at making cocktails! Would definately recommend the Bloody Mary. Atmosphere relaxing and friendly. Watch this space for live music too!

The new landlord at the three wheatsheaves is rude and insulting to his customers. We were having a relaxed drink in a small group. A few of us did not have drinks. The lights in our area were switched off and he started shouting at us from behind the bar "heating and lights are off squatters, time to go". Avoid this place like the plague!

The three wheatsheaves is neither impressive or a terrible place to visit. Depending on the time of your visit, the atmosphere is completely different. During the day it is very quiet and perhaps ideal for a few friends to get together and enjoy one of the good value meals available. Weekday evenings are somewhat quiet as well with the odd local resident inside. Weekends seems to be more lively with the availability of karaoke and live music as well. Haven't noticed many students here, only a few groups from time to time. Staff are friendly and orders can be placed easily at the bar.

The owners and bar staff are all great here and the building itself has a nice atmosphere. Usually a few well behaved students around (occasionally the odd lecturer) as well as the regulars and other folks in for a quiet drink. There's a good selection of drinks including a few ales on offer. The menu offers your standard pub grub, with an offer of ‘2 for £8' on selected dishes, and its not bad food either.Loads of space inside spread over several rooms on different levels, so on a quiet day you can pretty much have an entire room for yourselves. Plenty of seating in the beer garden as well, including a couple of covered tables with heaters if the weather's not quite up to it. There are a couple of pool tables and a quiz machine as well, so plenty to keep everyone occupied.

This pub is located just off derby road with a small car park for those driving. The outside is that of a typical old pub style, the inside is modern and very clean. It has a nice country style feel to it with candles scattered around. A friendly pub open to all and not just locals. They have a good selection of brand spirits and beers. The staff are friendly and attentive and even have a chat with you. The food here is above average and recommended for a meal. Good for a quiet night out with a small group of people.

The three wheatsheaves is in a good location away from town and close to student accommodation however I found that it is more of a gathering point for the local people in the area more than a place where students are able to meet up. The atmosphere is good and staff are welcoming and friendly. The food is good value and portion sizes are fair. The desserts here are recommended! Seating is plentiful inside and out of the pub with large rooms and more cosy seating available nearer the bar. Weekends are lively in the evenings and the music played is good and uplifting. Recommended for a good value meal.

Went for sunday lunch which consisted of a ropy old lamb joint and a 'burnt to a cinder' beef joint accompanied by a selection of watery over boliled veggies....Ugggh..Management response to comment agressive and non conciliatory.
