Hi having been to Chai Yo yesterday with my living social deal, I had enjoyed my meal very much, and having never been to the restaurant before I was thinking of going again. However I was then charged an extra £2 when ordering duck for my main meal. I spoke to the manager and when I told him the fine print never stated duck would have a supplement charge he told me that the fine print cant cover everything! So I told him he should have told me beforehand and his response was 'ill let you know next time'. Having argued my point for very long with him he then went away for a few minutes, came back with the bill and said 'I took £1 off'. So I was still charged an extra £1 for no reason! And the cheek is that on the menu, to get a duck dish the extra charge is £1, so in the first place to charge me £2 is unbelievable! I told the manager that is isnt about the money but the principle, which he agreed with me. I shouldnt be charged for something that isnt stated. But then he still didn't take the charge off. He DIDNT let me know there was a supplement charge and the fine print DIDNT say it either. To compound this problem is that he told me that previously other people had complained about this. So surely he should have told me when ordering?! Having actually enjoyed my meal, this ruined my experience and I would never go back. I dont understand why I was made to pay extra when the fine print never stated the fact that duck costs more. This was a pure failure on the management behalf. Surely they would want repeat business? Did they really need to squeeze an extra £2 out of me? I clearly told him I didnt mind paying but it was due to the principle. Had he taken the £2 charge off each I would have happily given tips to cover this, but instead he had the cheek to tell me he took £1 off each! unbelievable.

This is a gem of a restaurant just slightly tucked away from the busy Upper parliament street - and yet transports you straight to the serene beauty of thailand itself. Beautiful wood carvings and stone sculptures created a relaxing and authentic Thai dining feel. The food was delicious and beautifully presented - the clever, ornate apple swan and radish and carrot flowers decorating the chai yo platter - were wonderous! The service was attentive without being bothersome and the waiters showed good wit. So all in all a very recommended experience!!

A really enjoyable dining experience from the traditional Thai greeting as we walked in to the free coffee top-up at the end of the meal. If you a going for a curry night out with the lads I would suggest this is not the place for you but if you want a quiet meal with a partner or the family in elegant surroundings I don't think it can be bettered. With a vast array of dishes to choose from we chose the easy option of a set meal for two for £16 each. The food was delicious and there was ample with 3 meat dishes, a vegetable dish and rice for the main course. Our starter platter was beautifully presented as was the main course and the service was both polite and efficient. The extras like a flower and candle on the table and chiller for the wine bottle just added to the evening. We'll be back!!
