I go to Café Rouge in Nottingham for two main reasons:Its Baguette Rouge and its Dessert Menu,Its excellent location in Bridlesmith Gate.Nottingham's Café Rouge is perfect for lunch or mid-afternoon coffee and dessert after a hard day's shopping. I like the décor inside this restaurant, but I think it's a bit too ‘try-hard to be French'...after all, this is a restaurant chain – which is anathema to the typical Frenchman! However, disregarding this, the menu has a great selection of traditional French dishes, the quality of the food is good, and the service is very friendly. I think that for the pleasant eating experience, sit-down leisurely comfort and nice food, the prices are reasonable for a chain such as this. I recommend going later on in the afternoon, especially on a Saturday because this place is packed at lunchtimes on the weekend

Despite being part of a chain of restaurants, Cafe Rouge is one of my favourite places to go in Nottingham for lunch. The waiters are always friendly and accommodating and it has a quiet, laid-back atmosphere. The great thing about Cafe Rouge is that it always has interesting menu choices, although it is quite expensive. The desserts are always delicious though not very forgiving on the waistline! One disadvantage is its lack of vegetarian choices, there is only one option on the lunchtime menu which can pose a problem if you are not a fan of pastry tart! They are very accommodating for families, so despite appearances it is actually quite a nice place to take the family. The building itself is beautiful and full of character, and the central location of Cafe Rouge makes it the perfect place to go for a bite to eat after an afternoon of hard shopping.
