Cheap and cheerful
Average family friendly pub/restaurantThey do 2for £10 deals, which are ok value. If you go on a busy period you often have to wait a long time and then the food is often cooked badly or you get the wrong meals. Staff don't work well under pressureGood for the kids as there is a outdoor play area and indoor play room (extra charge)

Needle & Awl for drinks and food and all
The Needle and Awl is a family style pub. It is a large pub with a very traditional feel to it. There are loads of things on the walls to do with sewing and old crafts from many years ago. There are loads of tables as it is very much a sit down for a drink with friends kind of pub. Not the sort of place to go for a lively Friday night out, but great if you want to catch up over a few drinks.They do play music (not a DJ, but usually there are modern pop CDs playing in the background for a bit of atmosphere).The bar is really big and they also serve food, which is ordinary pub style food but I have always found it to be really nice and you get big portions too. A lot of the meals are on 2 for £10 so really worth the money.There is a large car park and also seating outside for when it is sunny enough to enjoy a drink out there. It is a great place for families because there is a kids play area through a door on one side of the pub which is supervised so you can let you children have fun while you relax with a drink.The Needle and Awl is situated on the outskirts of Rushden, but not far to get to if you live in Higham Ferrers, Irthlingborough or Wellingborough. If you are looking for a large pub that serves food and is suitable for all ages including children then the Needle and Awl should suit your needs.
