Average food, poor service.
Visited here a couple of months ago - smart enough interior, a few strange choices in terms of decor but generally good. The food however was not up to much - my starter was a stilton and mushroom soup that was served in a massive pasta style bowl. There is no way anyone could finish it and have room for their main course. Worse though was that I could detect no trace of stilton and the soup was fairly average. My main was ok. The service was very bad - nervous waiters, the head waiter constantly giving out wrong information then having to correct himself, wrong wine glasses. The chocolate mousse was recommended to us by the staff but 10 minutes after ordering it we were told the kitchen had run out. A few minutes later, whilst we were dealing with the gloopy, massive portion of spotted d*ck (this website won't except the correctly spelled word!!!) and custard that we ordered instead, we saw waiters taking chocolate mousses to a party upstairs. That's just not on. Average food, poor service - won't be in a hurry to visit again.

poor service
Waited over 1/2 an hour before having our order taking,then no sign of food for the next 1/2 hour ,there was a large party in their upstairs dining room and they clearly could not cope with the amount of diners ,made worse by no explanation of our wait ,ended up leaving without any food ,very poor service !

EXCELLENT!
I have just come here to leave a review and saw yours. I am sorry to read of your experience. Ours was so very different. Our party was smaller I will grant you but the six of us had dinner there last week and absolutely loved it. I agree with you about the food being well cooked and presented but also it is completely different to anything you can find in Hull but the service we received was just excellent. I can safely say it was the best I've experienced in Hull. We felt quite special. The place had a great buzz to it. I even asked what the music was as I was enjoying it so much. The place was quite busy, though we were on the ground floor not the first floor. I did sneak a peek at the first floor when I went to use the loo and it's a very stylish room. Anyway we will be back and will be taking friends.

Brimbles -poor service.
As one of a party of 18 we where disappointed by the srvice. They could not cope with 18 meals at the same time, nor the ability to deliver to the the fist floor. eating area. The food arrived at different times, plates cold and the attention lacked finesse. At on point the bearded manager came over as a modern day Basil Fawlty he tried to blame the guests for some of their problems, beat that! In the end they did not charge for the deserts or the wine. Shame really because my meal was well cooked and well presented. The will have to improve the service to maintain a business in a competetive area of Princess Avenue.
