Are Driving Lessons value for money

It is very rare these days to reach your mid twenties and still not have a car. Public transport is often time consuming and unreliable.Having your own car and of course driving licence enable you the freedom to get around quickly which opens up all sorts of opportunities with work being the most important.Many employers insist on their employees holding a full Uk drivers licence even when driving is not a requirement of th job.Its fair to say then that learning to drive is as essential as passing your GCSE's!But who pays for it? Learners are usually students or school leavers looking for work. If their parents don't subsidise it, driving lessons can be very costly and so the mission to find the cheapest instructor is begun.But why are some instructors cheaper?It costs a considerable investment in time and money to become a qualified driving instructor and like most things the bigger the investment the better the results. New instructors are usually happy to offer discounted lessons while they develop their teaching skills and techniques on their current pupils. However, for the pupil this will often mean having considerably more lessons to reach the required standard than some one having lessons from an experienced instructor.Successful instructors are reccomended by their pupils and are therefore confident to charge more for their services and are often fully booked up.However, the current credit crunch has created a swell of new driving instructors who are flooding the market and driving down (excuse the pun) the cost of driving lessons.The average lesson price now is at the same rate it was in 2001!
