Business Profile

Greenford High School is dedicated to providing the very best for all students in its care. We combine an excellent innovative pastoral system with very high academic standards to provide a supportive, purposeful & stimulating learning environment.

Welcome

Built in 1939, Greenford High school was originally a grammar school for both boys and girls, serving the needs of a rapidly growing population on the western edge of the London Borough of Ealing. Two unusual aspects are worth noting. Firstly, the school opened during the first week of the Second World War. Secondly, the school's name indicated the catchment it was meant to serve rather than its actual location. The school managed to survive the bombing raids and flourished after the war.

About Us

We are a high-achieving comprehensive school that wants all of our students to fulfil their potential. Our flourishing post-16 centre, with more than 500 students of all abilities, many of them going onto excellent universities, is an indication that a school can strive for academic excellence and an inclusive ethos. Our curriculum is broad and engaging, covering everything from our Language College status to our huge Business provision. Since learning is at the heart of everything we do, our Training School status allows us to develop our most important resource - our staff. It is their dedication to our students, and the positive relationship between these two groups, that is our greatest strength.

School days are a formative time of life. Friends you made then can remain friends forever - or just be lost in the past; and teachers shaped our minds and had major influence on our future directions. How sad then to let all this slip behind when it could continue to foster our development through life. Leaving school should be merely au revoir to established relationships and not a final adieu. For many years now under the banner of Old Greenfordians, former students have met every two years or so at a luncheon where social and networking contacts continue to be fostered during a happy and informal occasion. Some luncheons have been held at the school itself so that former students could be amazed at the progress and change that has taken place in buildings and teaching techniques, while other events have been held at suitable nearby venues.

Old Greenfordians careers span a huge range of interests whether working in the UK or in remote corners of the world. Our number include playwrights, teachers, authors , engineers, scientists; and we are in medicine, media, business consultancy, retailing, space technology and finance. If you attended Greenford School – in any of its phases from County Grammar School through to its present High School status then you are an Old Greenfordian so don't miss this special opportunity to keep in touch with others. The next luncheon will be in Spring 2014 – around 75 years on from the founding of the School - so you have plenty of notice and we will jog your mind again as arrangements fall into place. Your key action right now is to make yourself known to the organiser – his contact details are below. Send your name, address, e-mail, telephone number and years you were at the School. We look forward to greeting you as an Old Greenfordian and, maybe, as a one-time former classmate. It's great to keep in touch.
