Unusual exterior with carved wooden roof over front door. Inside all decorated Thai style, including cutlery. I don't know what the name means.Food: Good amount of choice.Starters: Thai specialities include Tom Yum soup which is hot and spicy; Tom Jerd, clear soup with chicken and mushrooms; dumplings; satays (skewered meats such as chicken); non meat appetisers, and mixed starters for a minimum of two persons; meat or vegetarian. I had chicken satay at £3.95. Peanut sauce was bland, not over hot which you might get at other Thai restaurants.Atmosphere: Romantic candles. Small place.Main Courses:Some others ordered the meat set meal. Or the vegetarian set meal. I ordered duck with ginger and pineapple. Because I had chicken as a starter. Pineapple gave me a fruit. I reckoned that was less fattening than cashew nuts. Huge choice of chicken dishes, beef dishes, vegetarian dishes, curry dishes. Get their take away menu to choose at leisure. The menu translates.Set Meals: Several set meals. Vegetarian or meat, for two or four persons. About £16 per person, which included coffee.Desserts: Mango was out of season. Sorbets.Coffee: Coffee pleasant. Not good. Not bad.Service: Keen, speedy, efficient. Not smiling but quite happy to supply drinking water, spare cutlery, whatever required, and came over the second you waved.Crockery Pretty blue and white sugar bowl and matching cream jug on small matching tray.Cutlery Interesting visually appealing Thai style design with bamboo pattern handles. Matt finish - looked worn to me. Would have preferred shiny cutlery which was gleaming and shiny. Napkins Prettily fanned in wine glasses.WaterTap water in jug came promptly. Bottled water available.PricesGood value drinks. I ordered a small flask of sake (Japanese rice wine - strong, like port or brandy) and I had 3 or thre thimbles full, which was enough as I was driving, with two more for one other person (also driving) and half a thimble full for a third person who just wanted to taste it out of curiosity. The sake cost about £5, enough for two moderate drinkers. A bottle of German white wine was under £10. 10% off all take away orders over £15.Opening hours: Evenings only. Open 6-11 pm Tuesday to Saturday. 6-10.30 Sunday. Closed Monday. Phone 020 8863 1144 Website www.Panomthai.co.ukBest things about it? Decor. Service. Coffee included in some set menu prices. Good choices for vegetarians. Bland food available for those who want it. Able to grasp the concept of customer can eat fish but not shellfish - and could consult chef and explain which starters contained prawns, without my having to ask about every dish. Worst things about it? Closed Monday. Could not give me lemon grass sauce without chilli because the sauce was already made up. Why I chose to go thereHarrovians Toastmasters club which meets at the nearby Wealdstone Inn wanted a restaurant for a post-meeting dinner party, within walking distance. The committee actually changed our meeting date from a bank holiday Monday to Tuesday in order to come to this restaurant.Would I go there again? Yes.When would I go there again? Seeking a nearby meal, not too expensive.
