Avoid at all costs

If I could give a zero rating for this experience I could. I booked in an SWB van. It was a battered old wagon. So many dents, scratches but more alarmingly I switched on the ignition to find multiple warning signs including oil check/ inspection. I raised this with them and they brushed it off with 'it will be fine! I was not comfortable taking the van but then I have little choice but to have good faith and believe him. I had at least expected him to offer a smaller rent fee then £55 plus taking £200 deposit. I called their offices at around 530pm later that day to inform them I might be a little later in returning this due to change of plans and would be looking at a time between 2-3pm. They said that will be fine and no problem. Since the van was already in the most shocking state to drive and that this is a smaller family run business, I have taken this all in good faith and gratitude. There was no mention that there would be any kind of penalty fee or additional charge incurred. I would have made alternative plans and not overrun the hours otherwise. I returned the van just before 3pm the next day and was told that I would have to pay a full second day rate on this. I was upset and more-so given that there was no attempt from them to meet even half way with this to at least offer half a day rate. For in the end was 4 hours. When I raised the issue about the state of the van they simply said I didn't have to proceed and take the van if I was unhappy. I had pleaded with them to reason with the situation half way but there was no attempt on their part. They seemed very at ease to simply say that I can dispute the money they will still take from the deposit, knowing that they have got what they wanted. My anger with all of this was their behaviour and how a company like this iS allowed to operate with leasing out large vehicles in the shocking state they are, in effect endangering people's lives. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS
