Church and pub often sit well together and in Saddleworth, debatable land between Yorkshire and Lancashire, the majestic neo-Gothic St Chad's Church and the sturdy Church Inn form a magnificent duo at the head of a green and wooded steep valley looking down on the village of Uppermill.
The Taylor family have been brewing beer here since 1997, having reopened and refurbished the then derelict century-old brew-house.
At the Church Inn we have two dining areas, our traditional bar area welcomes any guests, also a separate dining room which can be hired for private functions. Relax with a pint of our finest ale in front of the open fire before enjoying a hearty bar meal. It's informal and friendly.
The Old Brewhouse, situated at the side of the pub had been in use as a brewery 150 years ago, it was restored in 1997 by Julian Taylor.
The first brew to be introduced was named Saddleworth More followed by an ever growing selection of traditional beers, all hand brewed in small batches with a variety of speciality malt and imported hops.
Saddleworth Brewery has also recently been named winner of ‘Own Brew of the Year Good Pub Guide Award'
