Awful quality food, over-priced - can't understand why its still trading.

We had a nice meal - plenty of interesting dishes to choose from. The cost was about £25 per head which included wine and drinks.

I had high hopes of this place as it was recommended but was hugely disappointed. The menu looks good but the prices written in words should have given me a clue. All of my food was overdone, the smoked salmon omelette was rubbery, the pork was similar and the black pudding, whilst good, should not be larger than the meat it accompanied. I was advised not to order a side of potatoes as this came with mash and greens (or spinach, I can't remember). There is a difference between al dente and old and stringy. The portion sizes were small, so overall not good value. The staff had been to the school of "ask how the meal is as often as possible, whilst avoiding moments when you might be needed". Asking me how the meal is whilst I'm still chewing the first mouthful, strikes me as scripted rather than attentive. The wine waiters were very attentive ensuring that our glasses were never below full, thereby hoping to sell more of it. Good wine, not badly priced, so there's a plus. All in all there are much better places to eat in the area for £50 a head.
