A rather nice large pub, with outside seating available, conveniently located near the Hitchin football ground, so first choice for drink before or after a match. The pub is also popular with families as it has a family friendly environment with an indoor play area for children. It has a standard Pub menu, so if you are hunger and after more than a burger from McDonalds than it's a great option as it is very nicely price (i.e. quite cheap really) but it does lack atmosphere. I've eaten here a couple of times but have always felt like I was eating at a church as there is just no atmosphere, so in turn we have been rather quiet.The drinks are also quite cheap. The Staff are friendly.

Family friendly favourite
In some ways this is an odd pub, situated on the main Bedford road, out of the town centre not far from the football ground but we quite often find ourselves in there and, for us, the reason is the pub's great family-friendly philosophy and facilities. They host mother-and-baby mornings and there's a decent soft-play 'adventure' area where the younger children can play while the adults have a drink. The menu is fairly standard pub fare though the 'specials' board deviates from the norm more. Kids, naturally, very well catered for on the menu and there's a range of healthier options as well as the standard chips-with-everything fare. To look at the pub isn't particularly attractive from the outside but parking is extensive and, particularly if you're a family, I'd recommend a visit.
