The Silver Cup is a pub/restaurant just outside Harpenden on the A1081 towards St Albans - only a few minutes walk from the South end of the high street. It went through an overhaul a couple of years ago and is since much more up market - though without having a "chain pub" feel to it. A good selection of beers are served in the bar - including some real ales - and some unusual pub snacks. There is a "pub garden" though this is right by the A1081 so not the quietest spot to enjoy the sun!The restaurant provides good, if up-market, food and there is a good selection of quality wines, though you will pay for the privilege. The Silver Cup now also provides accommodation - though I've not tried this so can't comment much further.
