About

Property preservation Barnet Greater London - Olympic Preservation

We are the leading property preservation experts working throughout London and surrounding counties. We have always taken pride in the quality of our workmanship, we only have JDR Plastering undertaking our plastering works. Throughout our 27 years in the trade used Safeguard for the purchase of our materials and chemicals. As a company they are pushing the boundaries in making buildings dry. We are utilising the new technology Safeguard has created to improve our services even more. We are approved specialist contractors for safeguard and all employees regularly go on inductions for the new products. Rising Damp occurs when water from the ground rises up through the bricks and mortar of a building, this is called capillary action. Ground water contains soluble salts (Chlorides, nitrates and sulphates) when Damp rises these salts pass with the water and are left behind when the water evaporates. These salts can absorb further moisture from the surrounding environment. Rising damp is usually found when, the DPC has been breached, and failed DPC or one was never installed. Treatment usually involves the installation of a chemical DPC, such as Dampcheck Plus. 10MM holes are drilled along the bottom of the wall (height dependant on job) and then injected using specialist injection equipment, followed by the removal of contaminated render and plaster and replaced with a salt retardant render incorporating Renderguard Gold. However, with the introduction of DryZone Damp-Proofing Cream, the process has been simplified. The DryZone system is based on a high-strength Damp-Proofing cream that is injected into holes, much the same as a silicone DPC but does not require a pump. In larger areas more water can build up, hence why we need to drain the water away. A pump and normally a secondary pump will be installed into the lowest point on the floor area.
