Excellent food and service

Despite the somewhat eurocentric name, Cafe Le Raj is as Indian a restaurant as you can get. Its clean modern interior and consistently friendly waiters provide a warm welcome, so it's no surprise that this has been one of our favorite Indians for many years. Our last visit (11th June 2008) reinforced this opinion; where else can you get your starter brought up before you ordered it? Well, I guess that's a perk of being a regular and not some feat of amazing psychic abilty. But it emphasises the sense of fun enjoyed by the staff here. And the food - well I have no evidence to suggest that the chicken chat isn't the best in the world. It's certainly the best I've ever tasted, and unlike some restaurants it is always excellent. The lack of variability in the food quality certainly helps keep this establishment above the rest. It was heartening to overhear other customers praising the staff on how much they enjoyed their meal. My chicken madras and mushroom rice were both superb. Drinks on the house wrapped up a fantastic evening, and all for less than £20 per head.
