Southend's treasure. Roasts like my mother used to do. Sweets (like the lunches) all home made and cooked on the spot. Treacle and Jam sponge (my mouth's watering as I mention them) and apple pie with pastry just right. Don't go expecting a meal in five minutes. A twenty-five minute wait is average. But with portions well above the norm and prices under a fiver it's just fantastic. Only open during the day. My wife and I love it. Try it and see what you think. You'll love it too.

First of all i would like to say i absolutely adore this restuarant. The reason why is because everything was perfect, it is quite a small cafe, they only have 2 waitresses working the front with the chef (Carlos) and dish washer in the back. There is only one chef as well which makes this even better. The waitresses hand you a menu as soon as you sit down, once you have ordered you get your food very quickly and the food itself is great. The people in there are very polite and prompt, so the service was excellent. It is also very reasonably priced, i think it was £3.75 for a full english breakfast and £5.50 for a surloin steak with chips and vegetables. I would definitely go to this place again, considering the food is great, the prices are great and the chef was trained by Gordon Ramsay.
