At Chelmsford Nursing Home we deliver a structured care programme in a safe, secure and comfortable environment. We aim to provide improved health and improved quality of life to everyone who stays with us and support them to maintain choice and control over their lives.

We believe that leisure and social activities form a central part of people's happiness, health and wellbeing. We offer a range of activities, including regular trips out into the community and nearby care homes in our own minibus, quiz nights, visits to garden centres, cheese and wine afternoons, pampering sessions and aromatherapy sessions. A mobile library regularly visits the home and we have a reminiscence computer and a specially-designed multisensory room. Chelmsford Nursing Home has good links with the local community, local residents associations, local schools and parishes.

We provide wholesome, home-cooked meals daily and happily accommodate all dietary preferences and requirements. Room service is also available. Beverages are always readily available and visitors are welcome to join us for meals. Meals may be served outside on a nice day and assistance with feeding is available.

The needs, wishes, choices and goals of the people who stay with us are paramount and care is tailored to the needs of each individual. We develop a bespoke care programme in conjunction with each person and their family, which is regularly reviewed and updated. We develop specific objectives and goals with each person and support them in maintaining their independence.

We always look at people's abilities and achievements rather than just what they need assistance with, and support people to make choices about their own care pathway and lifestyle.

Our skilled, experienced and knowledgeable staff provide as much or as little support as is required and we look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. We support people to make choices about their lifestyles and care pathways. Staff are always available to discuss any matter or concern and we encourage and value input from relatives too.

Our facilities and local amenities
At Chelmsford Nursing Home we have dedicated dementia care, nursing and residential wings which have been carefully designed by our Dementia Development Services team to meet the requirements of people with dementia. We have a total of 64 ensuite bedrooms on two levels. Bedrooms contain facilities such as plasma televisions, telephone points, high level power points, reading lights over beds, extra rooms for friends and family, individual temperature control and emergency call systems. Personal furniture and possessions are encouraged in order to make people feel at home and become accustomed to their surroundings more easily.

We have two spacious lounge/dining rooms, a reminiscence room and four lounges/libraries and rooms where people can relax and unwind. We also have peaceful landscaped gardens, sitting areas, secure gardens, patios, pathways suitable for wheelchairs and a lovely sensory garden.

At Chelmsford Nursing Home we offer a range of services including GP visits, specialist nurse visits, optician visits, dietitian visits, chiropody, physiotherapy and complementary therapy.

Situated in a rural area of Chelmsford, the home boasts spectacular countryside views. A local supermarket and shops are only a 10-minute drive away and people benefit from regular excursions in our mini bus to places such as nearby Highlands House and gardens. Chelmsford Nursing Home has excellent transport links to surrounding towns and a local bus route runs directly past the home.

Chelmsford Retirement Apartment Blocks
In the grounds of Chelmsford Nursing Home are two retirement apartment blocks with two and three bedroom flats for independent living for the over 55s. The retirement apartments offer a quiet and ambient setting in a countryside environment. People living in the apartments can enjoy the same person-centred care and benefits as people staying in the main building, and take part in the same activities and social events. Our apartments provide a comfortable homely environment and we support people in maintaining their independent living skills.
