Restaurant - Italian in Brighton

One of the few Italian restaurants cooking Pizza on a wood burning stove. Really great tasting food. The portions are on the large size so it's best to share a starter with a friend if you can. One slight niggle which is common to a lot of restaurants is that the house wine is the only wine available by the glass - and it's not great. But apart from that - I give 5 out of 5 for the food and service. It is usually very busy so best to book especially at weekends.

An Italian restaurant which all others should aspire to!I love Italian food and have sampled a fair amount in my time! When I first visited this restaurant, I didn't expect anything special, although I had heard good reviews from friends and colleagues.I'm so glad I went because I absolutely loved it. The food was so delicious, some of the best I've ever had in an Italian restaurant. I have returned a number of times and each time tried something new. I'm still surprised how they can deliver such a wonderful meal which tastes so good every time!I'd also recommend the house wine, cheap and surprisingly good!

This has to be my favourite Italian restaurant in Brighton. A little out of the town centre on the way to Kemp Town but worth going out of your way for. Go here if you are bored of the chain Italian restaurants of which Brighton has many to offer. La Capannina offers an excellent selection of traditional Italian dishes with a specials board usually containing fresh fish dishes. Although I have tried several pizza and pasta dishes and found them to be excellent, I now nearly always opt for the gnocchi which comes filled with spinach and ricotta and in the most delicious tomato sauce. It is one of the tastiest gnocchi dishes I've ever had. I also recommend getting an Insalate Miste as an accompaniment - the homemade dressing is so tasty (I'd buy it by the bottle if I could)!La Capannina used to offer a set menu during the week which was excellent value but I'm not sure if they still do. A 2 course meal with wine for 2 people will set you back approx. £35 - £40.
