BEWARE THE WENLOCK ! ! ! Upon arrival at the Wenlock we were told to fill out a short form detailing the name and address and how many nights stay etc... Owners seemed ok were given room key and made our way upstairs to the family room 2 adults 1 child (9 yrs old). An hour after we entered the room my wife and child started sneezing and coughing and being asthmatic had to use their inhalers. Upon inspection of the room we noticed thick layers of dust on the skirting boards, crumbs and bits on the carpets, dust and hairs on 2 velvet chairs, hairs on the bathroom floor and shower tray, a very dirty hand baisin, yellow stains on every well used towel, a thick layer of dust on the bedside clock radio ,a large patch of damp and mould in the corner wall, the mattress was very lumpy and uncomfortable which had obviously not been changed for many years, the sheets had old stains and tears, the pillows were totally worn out and to top it all off we noticed mouse droppings in parts of the room. Because it was late we had no choice but to sleep in this horrible room number 10. Breakfast was pretty much as expected after a sleepless night, a very dusty dining room, a full English breakfast with very poor quality sausages and bacon soaked in oil. Basically we could not eat this so called English Breakfast. We spent all day out searching for a reasonable hotel as we expected more for out 95 per night but had no joy whatsoever. We experienced another night of misery hoping to locate a hotel anywhere the following day. By that afternoon we managed to find a hotel 30 miles away in Bourmouth and were looking forward to having some sleep and some comforts. We rang the Wenlock House at 6 PM and politey informed them that we would be leaving the following morning at 10 am. The following morning the owners demanded money for 3 nights even though we only stayed for 2 nights. We then explained to them that the hotel conditons were not good enough and that the Wenlock House was being falsely advertised as a four star. The owners were offended in hearing this and demanded payment for an addtional night and refused to release our car from their garage until we paid 95 more. No matter what we politely said the owners would not listen to reason, we were mocked and were told that we should have informed them that we were asthma sufferers, they would not even see the room so we could show them our complaints, all we were told for about an hour was that they had some sort of disease and they were not well. We had no choice but to pay them an extra 95 so our car could be released from their locked garage even thou the room was unsattisfactory, they also remarked that they knew %u201CYOU PEOPLE%u201D would have issues, we took this as a racist remark as our surname is foreign.
