Awful, stressful experience

My partner and I have had an awful and stressful experience with Bournecoast, and with a property they let to us for what was meant to be a relaxing birthday weekend. No bed linen or towels on arrival though ordered, then very poor quality bed linen was brought round; later in the evening we were locked out of the property for 1.5 hours in dark and pouring rain until after midnight, no offer of shelter or alternative accommodation, due to faulty lock and door wouldn't open...eventually got in, after damage to door and lock by Bournecoast locksmith necessary to get door open, and now my partner and I are being asked to pay, on top of the rental, a FURTHER &pound;177, for damage to door we categorically did not cause. This claim is from the owner of the property (passed on to us by Bournecoast) who believes we are liable for something we did not do it seems because of an inaccurate report sent to her by Bournecoast. Bournecoast have, after many many back and forths with them, a offered small goodwill payment (=< 1/4 of rental cost) after many communications with them. But the owner's claim for &pound;177 still stands. Bournecoast and the owner could have sorted between them how to deal with this maintenance and repair cost, but have not done so. My partner and I may have to defend legal action. The stress has been incredible. Go for a relaxing weekend break, get locked out in pouring rain, and then have unfounded claims and potential legal action for &pound;177 made against you. Worst holiday experience I have ever had.
