Completed in 1951 and open to its first resident two years later, Moreton was originally built in 1905 for the Walton Turner family. There is a sense in which the building itself embodies Christian values – values embraced by the Moreton family and today underpinning MHA’s care of 34 older people.
George Walton was founder of the Walton’s stores in Exeter and Exmouth. The whole family was much involved in local church life. A commemorative plaque remembers the lives of George and Kat
