Cafes and Snack Bars in Bakewell
Water Street
Bakewell

This is a welcome change in the Bakewell area which is inundated with traditional tea shops. It serves a large range of authentic austrian sausage specialities as well as sandwiches and toasties. It has a nice outside icourtyard which is a bonus for dog-owners, and catches the sun. It also has several varieties of coffees and the cafe vienna is lovely. The apple strudel, however, made to owner Joe's family recipe, is the most mouth-wateringly gorgeous dessert/treat ever, especially when served with ice-cream!

I like everything about this place. It's always welcoming and the coffee and snacks are fantastic, served promptly by a very pleasant young lady.I really go for the coffee and there is a huge range with the original Blue Mountain coffee available too. There are others you will never have heard of but are certainly worth trying. You can choose to site in the atmospheric "attic" room on the first floor with its genuine carvings, clocks and nick-nacks from the Tyrol or in the walled terrace. We travel 80 miles to visit Bakewell and this coffee shop is the biggest attraction for us.
