The gallery and art shop is a family business first established by artist Alfred Heaton Cooper in 1905. His artist son William Heaton Cooper built the present gallery in Grasmere in 1938. For generations their paintings and books have influenced the way the landscape of the Lake District has been viewed.

About Us

In the gallery and art shop we offer a friendly service and we strive to do the same with this web shop. We have concentrated on developing the highest quality range of fine art materials, sourcing the best products we can from around the world.

The staff has expertise in different aspects of the business from an in depth understanding of the history of the artists and paintings, to knowledge of the area. A number of us have valuable experience with the art materials and can offer good advice where necessary. If there is something we don't know we'll do our best to find out for you.

We are proud of the mail order service we provide. We aim to pack and post your order on the same day you place it (excluding weekends and bank holidays), wherever possible. If any items are out of stock we will advise you straight away and offer an alternative.

The business continues to be run by current family members.

Fine Art Prints

Prints of Lake District landscapes, available loose, framed or in mounts, by the Heaton Cooper artists. All prints are available unmounted, mounted or framed ready to hang. There is a choice of framing styles, which you can view from the picture pages. Many, but not all, prints are available in different sizes. Our prints are of high quality, using the best available light-fast inks. All inks eventually fade, especially when subjected to strong ultra-violet light such as direct sunlight, but treated well, these prints will remain fresh for many years.
