the jolly sailor on sunderland street is centrally located near the park green area of macclesfield. parking is via the next door pay and display. it is a notorious local pub which attracts a notorious crowd, and has had links with nefarious activities in the past. it is a traditional pub with ales and a rather poor decor. the ambience is grim and it is rather dark inside. the staff are gruff and the locals are wary and not always that friendly. one to be avoided if you want a pleasant drink in pleasant surroundings, or a meal. popular with older drinkers and certain types who may not be up to any good. beware, unless you are looking for a fight or certain substances (allegedly).
