Restaurant - Chinese in Cambridge (Cambridgeshire)

Who would have thought Cambridge would have good traditional homecook Chinese food? This family run restaurant is charming and quite authentic despite on the pricey side. The portion is quite big. Not the best Chinese I've had (being Chinese, growing up in Hong Kong and Toronto, my standard without a doubt is high) but it's very authentic and pretty good in UK standard.I'm more charmed away by the owner come hostess than the food itself. She is lovely, always have a good story to tell, also not to mentioned forcing the youngsters to speak in their native tongue. I would say it's best in Cambridge.

This tatty looking place serves some of the most astonishingly good Chinese food I've ever eaten. Friends of mine who've spent time in China attest to its authenticity. It is about to move new, and hopefully more appropriate, premises soon, and hopefully then it will get the recognition it deserves.

Discovered this very understated, even tatty restaurant quite by chance. Let the very authentically Chinese staff recommend dishes, they know best. Highlights include Hunan Prawns, Lamb with Leek and Chilli (perhaps the best lamb I have ever had), MuShu Pork and so many more.Dishes are around £11, which looks pricey for Chinese, but given that portions are so large that 2 starters and 3 mains servers 4, it works out at about £25 a head with a beer or two each and as much food as you can stuff in. If you forget to take cash (yes cash only) there is a cashpoint around the corner. It's moving to a new venue on the other side of Cambridge, so make the most of it before it goes!
