Restaurant - Indian in Cambridge (Cambridgeshire)

This restaurant is on the site of the old Nirala. Thankfully, Dawaat has nothing to do with the Nirala - new management, new staff, new chef and, wow, what a menu. The decor is great - clean cut and modern. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly. We had poppadoms, onion bhaji starter, chicken kormad chicken tikka jalfrezi, peshwari naan, washed down with a couple of Cobra's. The flavours were out of this world - even the typically unexciting Korma was rich in flavours, yet still mild. The Jalfrezi was beautiful. Plenty of kick, but none of the eye-watering overdose of green chilli found in so many Jalfrezi. The naan was wonderfully delicate and clearly freshly made. They even do free delivery on takeaways within 3 miles of the restaurant. We've sampled Indian food in many cities around the UK and abroad. London has a few good Indian eateries, but even they are given a good run for their money by Dawaat. As for Cambridge, there's nothing that even comes close to matching the Dawaat. There's a new curry king in town.
