Don't eat here. No, really, don't! Well, not on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday anyway - which is the only excuse I can give it. I know it's cheap - but all references on various menus and other pieces of marketing literature about the food being' great' and 'delicious' have to be a figment of someone's imagination - or alternatively written by some marketing copywriter who quite apprently never actually ate here. OK, some specifics before I get told off. Chips - cold and soggy. Replacement chips - fractionally warmer but still soggy. Steak - one 8oz offering was half the size of the other, and that's not because the other one was big! Peppercorn sauce - minimal, and when I asked for more I was told I'd have to pay for it because 'that was the size of the portion in the sachet'. Now given that we'd already had to complain about the chips, I would have thought they might just possibly have made a customer service decision and given me another of their yummy sauce sachets free! But no . . . Mushrooms (which were an extra charge along with the minimal sauce and the soggy onion rings) invisible. As in, not there at all! Chicken burger - soggy breadcrumbs which has to be scraped off. Need I say more. I asked to see the manager and explained why - and the chap I spoke to said he would fetch him. But then he came back and said that the manager was too busy and would give me 10% off! I told him that this was not acceptable, given the meal was one of the worst I'd eaten in a very long time, and that as an obviously unhappy customer, his manager might like to do me the courtesy of coming out to speak to me himself! Eventually the manager presented himself and tells me that he was aware of everything, and that the chips were hot, the mushrooms were there and looks at me as if to imply that I must be on another planet. We agree on a 25% discount as he tells me that is all he is authorised to offer - and by then I really have lost the will to live so I accept. Obviously 'customer service' is not one of the phrases which this establishment ever uses. A list to which they should really add the phrase 'delicious food'. Whilst waiting for the manager I also overheard one of their greeting staff, when asked for a table for four, repy with the following sentence - almost all in one breath. "No problem but the wait for food is half an hour, is that OK, and we don't have any sausages so if you order a mixed grill it will come with an extra egg and we don't have any jacket potatoes either, is that OK, and we don't have any profiteraoles so if you order a sundae we'll give you some extra ice cream instead, is that OK?". Scarily the people in question said yes, which might go some way to explaining why The Furzton Lake thinks that such appalling service and standards is even remotely acceptable . . .

my partner and i went there for a sunday roast dinner. It took over an hour to get the food, although we were told it would take half an hour. The food had been standing for a long time and chicken was like rubber and lamb was more like pork and looked like it had been scratched off some road kill, when complained, waitness shrugged her shoulders.

The setting of this restaurant is particularly nice in the summer time. It is set right on the edge of the lake and has a really large beer garden where you can while away the hours ;-) The food is pretty good but really good value with their regular 2 for 1 offers.
