Just Lovely

We were in the area for the weekend and stumbled across this inn at lunch time. We sat outside and had a very nice snack and just loved the whole ambience of the place. We asked if we could book a table for 6 that evening and they were happy to do so. Our meal in the evening was excellent, with six people and different tastes there was something for all of us on the menu, the drinks were well priced and the service was extremely good without being intrusive. If we find our selves in the area again we would eat here again. Shame its not open all day or sunday evenings but I guess it must be privately owned with a small staff.Would recommend phoning ahead just in case you hit it too late for lunch or dinner.

Don't avoid this pub..........

The Polecat at Prestwood is a friendly, comfortable inn with good home cooked food at a reasonable price. The staff are friendly, the regular menu is uncomplicated offering traditional favourites fromsc#mpi and shepherd's pie, to beef wellington. There is always a good selection of specials too - often including halibut, sea bass or venison. All served with a generous helping of fresh seasonal vegetables or salad. The inn itself is attractive in the traditional sense and there is a pleasant garden to enjoy in good weather. The Polecat is in summary a pleasant village inn - the kind one would want as one's "local"Don't pass it by!!

The food in this pub was excellent and the prices were very good for the amount of food that we got, it came with a choice of vegetables or salad and it makes a refreshing change of not being offered chips. The sevice was also very good and the staff were very friendly and good humoured,it was nice to see young and older staff geeting on together.I would recommend this pub to anyone who wishes to have a good meal weither they dined for lunch or for dinner.

Avoid this Unfriendly Pub

My Wife, Son and Daughter in law visited this pub today as it had been recommended to my son by a friend. We arrived at ten past two. We were told in a very unfriendly manner that food stopped at 2pm. The older lady behind the bar said "we will do sandwiches that;s all" we were then shown a snacks board, which had jacket potatoes, bagettes, ploughmans on but were informed that we couldn't have any of those! why show us then! As my wife has an allergy to brown bread I enquired if the sandwhich could be made with white bread, I was told "no only brown". Frankly we havn't sampled the food in this establishment, but None of us would return due to the bad attitude of the staff. I believe if you work in a servivce industry your aim should not be to make the customer feel bad.The Mature diners were pretty off putting too.
