We provide high quality education for students aged 11 to 19. As a specialist Sports Academy, we are fortunate to have some of the best sports facilities in the area. However we are committed to identifying and nurturing every student's talents, wherever they lie. So whether a child shines most in traditional academic subjects, the arts, technology, enterprise or sport, we will help them reach their full potential by providing the widest possible range of opportunities.
It is not all about getting good grades. We look out for students' wellbeing by providing pastoral care and guidance and instilling positive attitudes and values, which we believe are the cornerstones of successful learning.
We aim to help each student develop their confidence and social skills as well as their knowledge and abilities, equipping them for a happy, successful future.
Our curriculum is broad, balanced, engaging and stimulating, offering our students personalised pathways to success.
Central to the curriculum is our desire to ensure students develop greater knowledge and understanding, but also gain the necessary personal and thinking skills to become well-rounded and confident life-long learners. We also put a lot of emphasis on students showing initiative, working as a team as well as independently and developing leadership skills.
Staff use a range of teaching and engagement strategies to ensure all students can succeed with their learning. Students are grouped to maximise learning – either by ability or in mixed ability groups.
The curriculum is constantly reviewed with the aim of providing the highest quality learning experience and success for all.
The Academy makes the best resources available to help our students realise their potential, including our large learning resource centre. The technology available throughout the Academy includes interactive whiteboards and computers with access to learning resources, such as online blogs and podcasts, and video mixing facilities. Other tools include a virtual learning environment (VLE), which gives students access to classroom resources and learning support whether they are at school or at home.
