(Was A) Perfect Country Pub
The Hare and Hounds was a perfect country pub/restaurant. From a wide selection of Sunday roasts to specials (oxtail this week) there was something for everyone (curry, jackets, pasta, Thai) and a kids menu. Loads of parking and a beer garden. A healthy half an hour walk through the fields from Mentmore (only when the crops are cut though, it does get a bit overgrown!)we always looked forward to going to The Hare and Hounds. But it's been taken over. They charge VAT at bill stage! More of a builder's pub now, (nothing wrong with that but warn Granny), and the food, to me, just OK. I haven't been for about a year now, a shame because I loved the walk through the fields to get there and the walk back to walk off a long Sunday lunch.
